Resources to Help You Plan Ahead
At Johnson, Mackowiak & Associates, LLP, we feel that an informed client is our best customer. However, we certainly understand that the amount of information out there is not only overwhelming, but some of the so-called “facts” can be unreliable, as well.
Rather than wasting your time weeding through everything the web has to offer on accounting, tax, and financial planning, we’ve compiled a variety of resources we believe will be most helpful to you.
If, at any time, you have questions or need more information on a particular topic, please don’t hesitate to contact us. At JMA, we are here to help.

Please choose a value within the range that matches your item’s approximate age and quality. Keep in mind that tax law now requires that all household items given to a charity must be in good or better condition. In other words, those questionable items you donated in previous years and claimed were worth a few dollars because they were in “fair” condition are no longer acceptable.

Whether you are a business owner or an individual planning ahead for your future and family, these tools can provide you with helpful guidance.

What documents do you need to safeguard? This family documents checklist from JMA includes a general listing of emergency papers and information, personal financial and non-financial papers, bank and credit accounts, and investment and insurance documents. Make any necessary additions and skip items that don’t apply.
Be sure the items on the list are easy to find, and ideally, organized in a fireproof filing cabinet or home safe. JMA suggests you complete the checklist—listing locations and comments next to each item, and then send a copy of the annotated list to the executor of your estate and to key family members.
